SI–Riordan Basketball Doubleheader Sells Out USF's War Memorial Gym
USF RIORDAN

San Francisco high school basketball boasts a rich, century-long tradition, beginning with St. Ignatius capturing the first-ever state championship in 1926. Over the past 100 years, the Wildcats have taken part in countless marquee matchups, and Tuesday night's showdown with Archbishop Riordan was no exception.

Add in a coed varsity doubleheader, and the result was the start of what promises to be a new and exciting high school basketball tradition. Nearly 3,000 fans packed USF's historic War Memorial Gym, creating an electric atmosphere worthy of the occasion. While Riordan emerged victorious in both games, the energy, competitiveness, and community support made the night a memorable one for athletes, coaches, and fans alike.

The anticipation is already building for the next chapter of this rivalry, as St. Ignatius and Archbishop Riordan will meet again on February 17 at Archbishop Riordan High School. Both Wildcat teams remain firmly in the league race, with the women's team currently in third place and the men's team sitting in second, setting the stage for an exciting stretch run to the season.

Wildcat Men's Soccer Ready to Make a Move in the Standings
Men's Soccer

Soccer is a funny game, you can dominate possession, win the loose balls, and outshoot your opponent, yet still walk away with a tie or a loss. After a terrific preseason that included a championship at the Southern California Classic, the Wildcats entered WCAL play with plenty of momentum.

Through the first half of the league season, St. Ignatius has continued to control possession, win second balls, and create scoring chances, even if the results didn't always reflect their level of play. Recently, however, the floodgates have opened. The Wildcats delivered two emphatic performances, scoring four goals on the road at Mitty and erupting for nine goals against Riordan.

With confidence growing and form trending upward, SI looks to continue its climb in the WCAL standings this Saturday as the Wildcats host Sacred Heart Cathedral at SI, with kickoff set for 10:00 a.m.
