Wildcats Build Momentum Over Winter Break and Open League Play
St. Ignatius varsity teams closed out the calendar year with an impressive showing across multiple premier tournaments, using a demanding winter break slate to build momentum on the court and the field. Competing in elite San Diego–area events and the Newark Memorial Tournament, the Wildcats delivered championship performances and strong finishes that have carried into the start of WCAL play.
Three varsity programs traveled south over winter break, with the men's and women's soccer teams competing in the SoCal Classic and the men's basketball team taking part in the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic. The trip proved highly successful, as both men's basketball and men's soccer captured tournament championships, while women's soccer earned a strong third-place finish in its division.
The men's basketball team went a perfect 4–0 at the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic, earning wins over Brave Christian (73–42), Murrieta Mesa (62–58), Victory Christian Academy (77–65), and Olympian (76–57) to claim the tournament title.

The varsity men's soccer team matched that success at the SoCal Classic, posting victories over Mission Hills (3–1), Aptos (4–3), Eastlake (3–1), Watsonville (3–0), and San Clemente (3–2) to earn the championship.

The varsity women's soccer team rounded out the SoCal Classic with a strong third-place finish in its division, highlighted by a 3–1 win over Mission Hills, a scoreless draw against Eastlake, and a 4–3 victory over Aptos.

Women's basketball added to the Wildcats' standout winter break with a championship run at the Newark Memorial Tournament. St. Ignatius earned dominant wins over Irvington High School (90–23), Menlo-Atherton High School (71–39), and Lick-Wilmerding High School (81–34) in the championship game to secure the tournament title. Sophomore Lulu Giometti was named Tournament MVP, while seniors Tatum Conroy and Hayley McGee earned All-Tournament honors for their standout performances. Women's basketball now turns its attention to Friday's Bruce-Mahoney showdown against Sacred Heart Cathedral at Chase Center, where a win would secure a series sweep and keep the trophy firmly in the Sunset for another year.

Across the court and the field, the Wildcats used a demanding winter break schedule to build confidence, depth, and momentum as WCAL play gets underway.
