Terrell Breaks Records in Historic Home Meet

On March 12, the Wildcats hosted powerhouse Archbishop Mitty High School at Herbst Natatorium in what became one of the fastest meets in program history.
Freshman Charlie Terrell made an immediate impact in her first home meet, winning both the 50 free and 100 free. Her time of 22.53 in the 50 free set both a pool and school record, establishing her as the fastest sprinter in program history. The mark also meets All-American automatic standards and ranks among the fastest times in the country this season.
Terrell also contributed to the 400 free relay, where both teams broke the previous pool record in a thrilling race. In total, four pool records fell, making it the fastest meet ever held at Herbst Natatorium.
Cinco Steps Up in Team Effort
On the men's side, junior Mika Cinco exemplified a team-first mindset in the Wildcats' March 19 matchup against Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Primarily a diver and in his first year with the program, Cinco was asked to step in and swim to help fill lineup needs. Despite never having raced before, he embraced the opportunity and delivered a strong performance.
His willingness to step up played a key role in securing the team victory and allowed additional swimmers to compete in relay events. Cinco's attitude and team spirit continue to make a meaningful impact on the program.
Wildcat Rowing Shines at San Diego Crew Classic

St. Ignatius Rowing traveled south to compete in the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic, one of the premier regattas of the spring season, featuring elite high school, club, collegiate, and national team competition from across the country.
The SI Men's Varsity 8+ faced off against some of the fastest crews in the nation in a highly competitive field. Racing in front of thousands of spectators, including collegiate rowers and Olympic athletes. The Wildcats delivered a historic performance, posting their fastest time in over a decade.
The crew of Michael Rawles, Brendan Ruance, Ethan Smith, Lucas Ibarra-Rivera, Pierce Winters, Tai Morganson, Kieran Devlin, Michael Arieta, and Joaquin Rathgeb powered through challenging, rough-water conditions to finish the 2000-meter course in an impressive 6:19. Their effort earned them a second-place finish in the B Final.
With momentum building, the Wildcats will see two of those same crews again in Sacramento in two weeks for a final tune-up before the West Coast Scholastic Championships.
On the women's side, the St. Ignatius Rowing team also made the trip to San Diego, using the Crew Classic as an early-season benchmark on a championship-caliber 2000-meter course and an opportunity to continue their development.
The regatta's scale and atmosphere provided a unique experience, bringing together the full spectrum of the sport, from high school and junior programs to elite collegiate crews, national teams, and even past Olympians.
Facing a deep and talented field that included top programs from across the United States and Mexico, the Wildcats rose to the challenge. The women delivered some of their strongest racing of the season, gaining valuable experience and confidence as they continue to build toward championship competition.
