The St. Ignatius varsity women's golf team delivered a historic performance on Monday, October 26, winning the WCAL Tournament with a league record-setting team score of 360 (even par). The Wildcats competed against teams from across the WCAL over 18 holes, finishing 16 strokes ahead of second-place Valley Christian.

Freshman Hazel Hooper led the way for SI, earning medalist honors with a low round of 68 (4-under par). Fellow freshman Elise McDonald followed closely behind with an impressive 69 (3-under par), while senior Stevie Umali finished fourth with an even-par 72.

The victory capped off an impressive league campaign for the Wildcats, who finished the regular season as WCAL Co-Champions alongside Valley Christian. Adding to the team's accomplishments, Hooper was named WCAL Player of the Year, earning the league's top individual honor in just her freshman season.

Next up, the Wildcats will compete in the CCS Golf Tournament on Tuesday, November 3, at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey. There, SI will face top competition from across the Central Coast Section, with both team and individual qualification spots for the NorCal Tournament on the line.

And that's a wrap for the Wildcat Sports Report – Go 'Cats!
