The St. Ignatius Wildcats shined on California's biggest high school track and field stage this weekend at the 2025 CIF State Championships in Clovis — led by junior
Prince Babalola-Buchango, who claimed the state title in the 200m dash with a personal best time of 20.79 seconds.
Prince's dominant run in the 200m final capped off a remarkable weekend in which he competed in three individual events. He also earned 2nd place in the 110m Hurdles, running a personal best 13.59, and placed 5th in the 100m final (10.56) after clocking a lifetime best 10.51 in Friday's prelims. His performances marked one of the most impressive all-around displays in the meet.
Junior
Ellie McCuskey-Hay, competing in three events on the girls' side, also had an exceptional showing. She placed 4th in the Long Jump with a mark of 19'3", finished 7th in the 100m final (11.63), and 8th in the 200m final (24.31).
Noah Gonzalez, a senior, wrapped up a stellar season by placing 9th in the Triple Jump (46'7") and 12th in the Long Jump (20'10.75").
Other performances for the Wildcats included sophomore
Avery Hui-Bytof, who ran a personal best 12.09 in the 100m prelims to place 28th overall.
