Varsity baseball defeated the Palo Alto Vikings 11-0 on Tuesday thanks in part to eight runs in the second inning.
Archer Horn singled, scoring two runs, DJ Delaney homered to center field, scoring three runs,
AJ Wineinger hit a solo home run to left field, and
Beau Schaffer homered to left field, scoring two runs.
A home run to center field by
Emmett Johnson put the St. Ignatius Wildcats on the board in the bottom of the first.
The Wildcats added one run in the third on an error, making the score 11-0.
Spencer Guido earned the win for St. Ignatius. The pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking none.
Eddie McCartney and
Charlie Stecher each threw scoreless innings for the Wildcats in relief.
The Wildcats collected 10 hits in the game. Delaney drove the middle of the lineup, leading St. Ignatius with three runs batted in. The right fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Johnson and
Atticus Gibson each collected two hits for St. Ignatius. The 'Cats were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
The 'Cats will play at home on Saturday against Los Gatos in their next game.
