Bio:
MK McDonough has served as Head Girls' Lacrosse Coach at St. Ignatius College Preparatory since April 2023, where she has quickly established a culture of excellence, leading the Wildcats to their first-ever national ranking (#25) in 2024. Her teams produced back-to-back Central Coast Section (CCS) Championships in 2023 and 2024, earning her consecutive CCS Championship Coach Awards in the process. McDonough's connection with SI began as an assistant coach in 2022 before taking the helm of the program.
A former Division I goalkeeper, McDonough played at Princeton University (2014-2018) under Hall of Fame coach Chris Sailer. During her collegiate career, she contributed to one of the nation's premier programs, helping the Tigers secure four consecutive Ivy League Regular Season Championships (2015-2018), three Ivy League Tournament titles (2015, 2017, 2018), and four straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including two Elite Eight finishes. At Princeton, she earned the starting position her senior year, while maintaining impressive save percentages throughout her career.
Prior to Princeton, McDonough was a standout at Bethlehem Central High School in Upstate New York, where she earned Section 2 Honorable Mention All-Star honors (2013) and USA Lacrosse All-Academic recognition in both 2013 and 2014. Her senior season featured a .480 save percentage with 114 saves, helping lead her team to their first Section 2 semifinal appearance in eight years.
McDonough's coaching journey in the Bay Area began in 2020 with STEPS CA, where she led the 2025 and 2026 graduation year teams to a combined 68-18-8 record and multiple national top-ten rankings through 2024. In August 2024, she founded Fog City Girls Lacrosse Club, where she continues to develop elite talent while fostering a supportive environment for young athletes to excel both on and off the field.
