Bio:
Maya Fok is a San Francisco native and attended Burke’s School for K-8th grade. She grew up training in martial arts and was determined to thrive in sports when she decided to attend St. Ignatius. She was a 4-year starter as the point guard at SI and received league MVP honors her senior year, 1998. She then played 2 years at UC Davis and finished her career at UC San Diego in 2002. Maya was nominated for the SF Prep Hall of Fame in 2024, for her time as a player at SI.
She was an assistant coach for the Varsity Girls Basketball team at SI from 2003-2006. She then attended graduate school at Dominican University for a Masters in Occupational Therapy, where she also was an assistant coach at the collegiate level from 2006-2007. In 2009, Maya started coaching AAU for the JCC and Olympic club. She coached at Convent high school from 2012-2014. In 2014, she became the Head Coach at Urban High school for 6 years. She was hired as the Head Coach at SI in 2020 and is absolutely loving it.
Maya currently works as a pediatric occupational therapist, working with children with special needs and developmental delay, and she is the owner of a private clinic called Connected Kidz in the city. She has been a member of the Olympic Club’s National Women’s team since 2009, played until 2020 and is now the coach of the team. She also coaches the Men’s Golden Masters OC team, since 2014. In addition, Maya started a new AAU program called SF Sparks for girls basketball in March 2022. SF Sparks has since merged with another program in 2024 and is now called City Gold. They will be playing on the Under Armour circuit.
