Wildcat 2024 Football Schedule -- 3 Things To Know

There's a new team on the schedule and they're coming to town on Friday, September 6th.  The Red Tail Hawks from Talalpais will be the first Marin County Team SI has played since 2017, when their 22-year contract with Marin Catholic ended..  SI has 2 away preseason games this Fall.  The first will be at eastbay powerhouse San Ramon Valley, who defeated the Wildcats last year at SI 42-14.  The 'Cats other away game is in San Diego versus another strong football school, the Cathedral Catholic Dons.  SI hosted Cathedral Catholic last year and won a thriller on J.B. Murphy Field after a defensive interception in the last few minutes by senior Junior Tutoe and then a Soren Hummel '25 QB keeper to win 42-35.  When league play begins, the 'Cats have 4 home games plus one addition game in San Francisco at Kezar Stadium in the annual Bruce-Mahoney Football Game.  The bottom line is there will be plenty of opportunities to see Widcat Football play this season in the City!

What do you get when you add rising San Francisco football teams, the #1 football school in Northern California, and traditionally strong Mountain View and San Jose football teams? A league that can honestly say "Any Given Friday Night!"  Early rankings suggest that Junipero Serra will be the #1 team in NorCal and a number of WCAL schools in the projected Top 25.  Be on the lookout for rankings from the San Jose Mercury News, West Coast Preps, and local high school expert Ethan Kassel from Bay Preps Insider --- all great high school athletic outlets!   Be on the lookout for a full SI football team preview in August!

The Bruce-Mahoney Football Game - November 1, 2024
The Bruce-Mahoney Tradition is one of the finest high school rivalries in the United States.  This City tradition has expanded over the years as it is now a coed trophy shared by the schools that includes 5 sports -- Women's Volleyball (Oct.1), Football (Nov.1), Men's & Women's Basketball (Jan. 14), and Baseball (Mar. 18).  On November 1st, at historic Kezar Stadium in San Francisco, approximately 8500 spectators will fill Kezar Stadium. The competition will be both fierce and respectful, due to the of the traditions and virtues of sacrifice, service, and commitment set forth by Bill Bruce (SI 1935) and Jerry Mahoney (SHC 1944).   For a full description of the Bruce-Mahoney Tradition and scores of each game,  click here.  This year, the football game will have an earlier start time -- 5:00 PM @ historic Kezar Stadium!  

All St. Ignatius home games will be live-streamed on either the SI Sports or BAOSN network; away games will be streamed based on opponent and location.  Please check the schedule for streaming links which will be updated in August.
